Norton College, a specialist secondary day school in Worcester, was about to open a new college campus in Tewkesbury. Due to this expansion, the college wanted to refresh their brand, brochures and redesign their website to help attract new students.
Norton College offers an alternative education for students who have struggled in the mainstream system. The previous branding for the college only represented the Worcester campus and Rawww were enlisted to help refresh the branding to introduce the Tewkesbury campus into the logo. It was important both the college’s branding worked together and as separate entities. The new logo delivered a refreshed look for Norton College. By inverting the curves and brightening the colours, the logo now feels fresh, modern and is easily recognisable.
The ethos of Norton College is one of kindness, warmth and compassion, and the team really wanted this to come across in the new website design. The tone of voice was important and needed to relate to parents, carers and students alike with a friendly, supportive tone. The website also needed to fulfill Ofsted requirements, by including college policies and reports. The new website design from Rawww is modern using vibrant images and bold fonts to engage users.
Representing both Worcester and Tewkesbury campuses, the website also acts as a base for Norton College to include more specific details about the college such as their philosophy, advice for parents and news updates. With easy to access Ofsted reports, college policies and individual college success stories, the new website offers a fantastic user experience. Rawww also carried out thorough keyword research, implementing a new keyword strategy into the website.
The old brochure for Norton College only featured Worcester and with the introduction of Tewkesbury’s campus, the team felt it was time to refresh the design into two new publications. Norton College wanted the new designs to appear more modern, fresh and less like a traditional brochure, to tie into Norton’s non-traditional approach to education. However, similar to the website, the brochures needed to still remain credible to Ofsted and other authorities.
By using large, eye-catching images and headlines that break out of the spreads, the new brochure designs from Rawww are sure to keep the reader engaged. Experimental fonts and overlays have also been used to add a unique feel to the brochure, along with inspirational quotes to help capture the essence of Norton College. Tewkesbury College and Worcester College now both have their own separate brochures that use their individual brand colours.
